Thomas F. Schlotzhauer
Tom Schlotzhauer has been a trial lawyer for more than thirty years, having tried cases for many years in Texas and more recently in Florida. Tom devotes his practice to commercial litigation, product liability, construction litigation, premises liability, toxic torts including Chinese drywall defense, and asbestos defense. Tom believes that “...listening to the needs of the client is paramount. A case strategy that might fit the needs of one client, may not work for another client. I endeavor to learn the goals of the client, and I create a litigation plan with the client’s needs in mind.” This understanding of the client’s needs and his passion for his cases is what makes Tom an effective lawyer. No matter what the case is about, or how many parties are involved, for Tom, being a lawyer boils down to being an effective advocate for his client.
Tom received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Drexel University in 1973 with a double major in Management and Industrial Relations. Tom returned to his home State of Texas and received his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from South Texas College of Law in 1976.
Tom is admitted to practice in Florida State Courts and each of the Federal District Courts in Florida. He is also admitted to practice in all Texas state courts. He is a member of the Broward Bar Association and is active in it's Construction Law Section, Professionalism Committee, and the Speakers Bureau.
In addition to his busy practice, Tom spends many hours yearly as an Education Advocate, serving as a member of the EESAC Committee at John A. Ferguson Senior High School, Chairman of the Early Learning Committe of the Miami-Dade County Council of PTAs/PTSAs, and as a parent member of many organizations for his daughters’ schools. Tom is an avid outdoorsman and enjoys fishing, hunting, and cycling.
